Art, Movement, & Critical Skills Programs
Welcome to Our Youth Enrichment Programs in
League City and Friendswood
Our courses prepare youth to successfully deal with an ever-changing world by responding creatively to the many challenges presented by daily life without losing their balance or perspective.
How Our Fine Arts, Life Skills, Physical Education and
Youth Entrepreneurship Programs Benefit Your Youth

We assist youth in learning how to better manage stress, handle anxiety, and learn to effectively communicate their needs and emotions. They become more grounded, emotionally-balanced, and focused individuals. This leads to better grades, improved interpersonal skills, enhanced coping skills, and a greater chance at prospering in a competitive and ever-changing world where demands are constantly changing.
Our CreativeFlow classes focus on physical fitness, emotional intelligence, and good decision-making abilities are CRITICAL for a well-balanced, successful life for all ages. Our passion is helping students find peace, grow their love for art and self-expression, find healthful joy in movement and meditation, and become emotionally and physically strong.
Our YouthEntrepreneur classes encourage youth to think out of the box, provide opportunites for leadership, and teach teamwork skills. Students go from a "I don't know" attitude to an "I can!" mindset. They are better prepared for dealing with the unexpected events that life throws at them, and in the process, they also discover what makes them beautifully unique and capable.
All of our programs develop creative expression and include cognitive components, self-improvement components, decision-making components, anxiety-coping components, and social skills training components as well as real world skills such as budgeting, time-management, teamwork, leadership, public speaking and cooperation.
Encourage Physicial Fitness
Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic
and creative intellectual activity.
John F. Kennedy
It is vital that parents and teachers understand the impact of physical movement on development and that they embrace the many benefits of physical activity for youth of all ages and encourage exercise. Experts attribute a rise in mental health problems among youth to a decline in the opportunities for physical movement for the average child or teen. Our society is just beginning to learn about the importance of physical activity in early childhood development as it relates to social, physical, cognitive, and emotional skills. When the body lacks strength and control and agility, the mind also lacks strength, control, and agility. Youth who don't move, lose! Ensure youth develop long-lasting fitness habits that keep them healthy and happy for years to come.
Physical activity prevents chronic disease in youth and adults.
According to the CDC (cdc.gov): "Regular physical activity helps improve your overall health, fitness, and quality of life. It also helps reduce your risk of chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, many types of cancer, depression and anxiety and dementia."
Encourage Creativity
Our feelings are not there to be cast out or conquered. They're there to be engaged and expressed with imagination and intelligence. T.K. Coleman
Art creates flexibility, encouraging the artist to break through rigid structures and barriers in the mind and emotions. Since the main indicator of mental health is flexibility, art is powerful. No matter your level of experience or skill, you can develop your unique authentic power through the arts to access creativity, promote self awareness, build confidence, interpersonal skills, and communication. Among the other tenets of creativity, art teaches problem solving, perseverance, flexibility, handling failure, persistence, tolerance, and empathy. The creative process relieves burdensome stress, boosts self-esteem, and provides a sense of accomplishment as children and adults as they integrate and express their experiences, emotional states, and imagination.
Creative expression can improve grades while increasing ability and motivation to learn. Art is complex and multifaceted with metaphors, symbols, and meanings. Art teaches us to observe the world more closely, requiring us to slow down and look closely to explore on a deeper level. This process of study, observation, and analyzing is the basis of critical thinking.
Expose Youth to Life Skills Training Programs
In a high-IQ job pool, soft skills like discipline, drive, and empathy mark those who emerge as outstanding.
Daniel Goleman
Making good choices can be a pretty rocky climb for all of us. Research shows that life skills training can favorably impact the life of people who engage in it. Depression, apathy, low achievement, and/or drug and alcohol use in tweens, teens, and young adults can be caused by feelings of not having control or power over their lives, and/or as a result of poor decision-making or coping skills based on little to no life experience in navigating the tricky waters of life. We teach hard skills - such as budgeting, nutrition, fitness, and self-care - along with soft skills like assertiveness, communication, confidence, and decision-making in both CreativeFlow classes. Students need to be exposed to - and learn how to - use expressive arts skills like games, drama, visual art, music, craft, and design skills to role play real life situtations they will encounter as they move towards independence and adulthood.
Tour Our Facilities
Art, Movement, & Life Skills Academy is the teaching arm of the Health and Creative Arts Center, offering classes and workshops for ages 7 to 18. Located in League City, Texas we are housed in a beautiful 2600 square foot building that once upon a time (1910 to be exact) started out as a small farmhouse. The owners renovated, modernized and enlarged the small building to create an ambiance of simple beauty with a warm and inviting energy! The building sits on more than 1/2 acre of land, providing ample room for outdoor activities like hula-hoop, basketball, volleyball, gardening and more at the Academy. We are proud to serve the Greater Houston and Galveston County areas.
Want to meet us or tour our facility? Give us a call, we'll be happy to show you around (by appointment only). We can be reached at 832-849-8934.
